Description
TEAR's Indigenous Support Program. Support TEAR Australia's partnership with Indigenous communities in Australia. ('River' theme).
"He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed." Luke 4:18
In this image, tears are spilling and blood is dripping onto barbed wire as a symbolic reminder of sorrow, pain and bondage. The cleansing river of forgiveness flows with eyes that are opened to hope and truth. The vibrant water lilies represent new life and freedom through the process of restoration.

Traditional Country: Mabuiag Island, Torres Strait and Wuthathi Country, QLD
How your gift helps
Dhumba is TEAR's program to support Indigenous projects and partners within Australia. 'Dhumba' is a Woi Wurrung word for 'talk, tell, speak.' We aim to talk together, tell the stories and speak out with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
TEAR's Dhumba program:
- Supports Christian organisations training Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in community development
- Provides seed funding for small community initiatives
- Provides ways of bringing Indigenous and non-Indigenous people together.
For $25, you can make a donation to the Dhumba program. You'll receive a beautiful card that has an illustrated biblical reflection of Luke 4:18-19 by the Indigenous artist Safina Stewart.
