Goat

Goat

$50.00

Description

A kid-friendly gift. Buy a goat and contribute to a long-term poverty-fighting project. Goats provide meat, milk and cheese, and can also be bred and sold for a profit. This gift contributes to projects that help people keep goats, and may include providing goats as well as training on how to rear them, build a goat shed and grow fodder.

How your gift helps

Diness is part of the Mandondo farmers’ group in Ndola district, Zambia. TEAR’s partner, Reformed Church of Zambia Diaconia Department, works with farmers like Diness to improve their productivity and income through sustainable farming.

As part of the project, Diness was given a female goat, which provides manure to use as organic fertiliser on her crops. Now her maize crop is flourishing and she is saving money by not having to purchase fertiliser. A number of female goats have been provided to an initial group of farmers, and as the goats give birth the kids are passed on to other farmers who can share in the benefits.

Your gift of a Goat is contributing to projects like this one and making a difference in the lives of those facing poverty and marginalisation.

About our partner

The Reformed Church in Zambia (RCZDD) is one of the biggest Protestant churches in Zambia. It has 154 congregations spread across Zambia, consisting of over 500,000 members.

RCZDD works with around 500 small resource-poor farming families in Ndola District. It aims to improve livelihoods through the promotion of sustainable agriculture technologies - in particular conservation farming. Other activities within the project focus on economic strengthening, HIV awareness–raising and the promotion of human rights.
